Waikato Maternity Services accepts referrals in line with the Guidelines for Consultation with Obstetric and Related Medical Services (Referral Guidelines). You will find the process for referrals under each sub heading below.
Due to the nature of Maternity referrals there are differing pathways to reflect the urgency of the referral. Please familiarise yourself with this and ensure that the correct pathway and contact method is used for the type of referral.
Consultations may involve the woman/person and/or the baby being seen by the specialist; however, a discussion between health practitioners is often appropriate on its own. Consultation can take place in person, by telephone, videoconference, email or by other means as appropriate in the situation.
